Purpose

1.1 - The purpose of EGBDL (Draft) is to randomly distribute players to a pre-determined number of teams using a draft system, giving the result of several evenly matched teams. These teams will play each other for the league championship, thus making it so everyone has the same chance to win a league title.

1.2 - All games in the Extreme-Games Base Duel League (Draft) will be played in a sub arena of SSCU Extreme-Games. The settings of EGBDL (Draft) will be as similar to Extreme-Games BaseDuel arena.

1.3 - Any player who does not adhere to the rules in this thread, is subject to any punishment deemed necessary at the discretion of the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s). This includes games suspensions or banishment from the league.

1.4 - It is the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) responsibility to enforce all rules & penalties. Any over-sight on the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) behalf will not result in extra penalties for the person(s) involved, but will result in the proper consequences which are provided by these rules.

1.5 - Any of these rules and the following mentioned might be adjusted, added to, or removed if there is a sufficient reason by the league coordinator(s). This will not ever occur without proper notice being given to team GMs (at least 24 hours).
=====================================================

Player Rights and Responsibilities

2.1 - Any issues regarding match disputes and/or rule violations must be sent to the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) by the GM or squad captain for review no later than 24 hours after of the match in question has been played. Any and all decisions made by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) are final. The decision of the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) will be communicated to the GMs of both squads via in-game message or forum message.

2.2 - Appeals containing questions and disputes, which are clearly resolved by, or dealt within the rules stated here will be denied a review without debate.

2.3 - No form of “double squadding” will be permitted. “Double squadding” is defined as a any player having more than one (1) registered alias on the EGBDL (Draft) squad rosters.

2.4 - Players are not permitted to have two (2) or more aliases within the arena they are playing their match in. This includes, but is not limited to, the use of two (2) PCs and/or running the Continuum client twice on one PC or any other forms that results in giving a player an unfair advantage.

2.5 - Players are not permitted to share aliases with any other player for any reason.

2.6 - Using any form of cheating, which includes but is not limited to “forcing”, “unplugging”, exploiting Continuum in a fashion other than it was intended for and/or using any third-party software, will be dealt with harshly any may result in a ban from the zone.

2.7 - Conduct must be appropriate while in a League arena during League play. If a referee or moderator asks someone to stop certain types of messages, they must stop immediately. If a referee or moderator asks a player to cease behavior that is deemed inappropriate, they must stop immediately. If a player is argumentative, belligerent, racist, or rude to the referee they will be kicked out of the zone. Pending a decision by the EGBDL (Draft) league coordinator(s), the player may be permanently banned. Referee abuse of any kind is totally unacceptable. Referees should be given proper respect that is commensurate with the responsibilities they have.

2.8 - During a match any form of messaging (i.e. private, squad, frequency, etc.) to another player that is actively playing and not on the same squad will not be permitted. This will be considered a form of interference.

2.9 - A player may not change names during a season, unless the GM updates the player’s squad roster with that name.
==================================================

Setup

3.1 - Sign-ups will be open to all players of Extreme Games & the surrounding zones. All those who sign up with their full EG username, whom are active, that don't alias or cause disturbances which would be harmful to the league, will be allowed to participate.

3.2 - The league coordinator(s) will choose refs and General Managers (GMs), both of which will be selected carefully by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s). Refs do not need to be EGBDL (Draft) participants, while General Managers do.

3.3 - All players who wish to register and play in an EGBDL (Draft) league must sign up by registering on the EGBDL (Draft) forums, and responding to the sign up thread in the sign up forum or !signup in pub arena in SSCU Extreme-Games. The beginning date for sign ups will be whenever the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) wants it to be. The end date and time for sign ups will be decided upon by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s).

3.4 - Once a general idea of the number of participants for EGBDL (Draft) has been determined, the number of teams & their General Managers can be decided. All GMs will be selected before the draft begins. GM's will be chosen carefully by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s). The number of GMs chosen will be based on the number of players that sign up to play.

3.5 - A Sunday schedule will be made after all GMs and team names have been finalized with weekday games to be scheduled by the GM or Captains on the EGBDL (Draft) forum. The league will be held in one division, where each team will play each other at least once during the season. There will be a pre-season of 1 week, followed by the regular season, and a playoff format at the end. The regular season and playoff format will be decided upon by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s).

3.6 - Refs are the last stage of the setup process. They will be chosen by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) when he/she deems necessary. General Managers may not become refs. Refs will be responsible for setting up, starting & managing games, and displaying the outcomes.
====================================

The Draft

4.1 - The draft will be held one week in advance of pre-season. The draft can last for 1-2 hours, and will be held on a Sunday afternoon beginning 3:00 PM Eastern time. All GM's can (and should) have a banner, and will have a team name finalized and ready for the first day of EG Base Duel League (Draft).

4.2 - The draft order will be determined randomly. EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) will decide how to randomize draft order.

4.3 - EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) will announce draft order.

4.3B - If there is a tie between GMs, the same process above will be used to break the tie, as quickly as possible.

4.4 - The draft will be conducted with as many GM's present as possible in a sub arena of EG. The random draft order that is assessed will flip-flop every other round. For example, if A B and C were GM's picking in that order in round 1, they will be picking C B and A in round 2, A, B, and C, in round 3, and so on. All rounds will be conducted regardless of how many GM's are present. A website (forum) will be used to assist in the drafting process.

4.5 - If a GM is not present for the draft, he has 2 choices of which to make in order to draft his team. He may either:

-- 4.5A - Send a proxy letter to the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s), in order of his most-wanted players to his least-wanted. The EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) will select only from this proxy list, the player at the top of his list who is most available for every round. This will continue until the list is completed, or until the GM shows up, or unless/until B occurs:

-- 4.5B - Let the top draft pick present for each team may proxy for the GM at any point in time, as long as the GM has given the necessary permission to do so.

-- 4.5C - If neither A nor B can exist, then the league coordinator(s) will pick for the GM who is not present for draft day and will simply pick the top remaining player in the draft pool for each pick in each round.

4.6 - All GM's will be given exactly 1 minute to make a selection. If a GM goes over his allotted amount of time he will automatically take the top pick available. If a GM or proxy is not present, the pick will be made as quickly as possible.

4.7 - The draft will commence until all players in the player pool are selected.

4.8 - At no point is any GM allowed to pass on a selection.

4.9 - At no point is any GM allowed to trade picks (past, present, or future) before or during the draft, unless two GMs agree to trade all their picks to each other (swap positions in the draft). If a trade is agreed upon, it must be made and announced to the league coordinator(s) within 24 hours of the draft, or else it isn't official.

4.10 - It is a GMs full responsibility to tell their drafted players the password to the squad, team chats, practice dates & times, squad banners, and everything else related to running and leading a squad.
=====================================================

Trading, Releasing, & Signing Players

5.1 - All transactions must be approved by the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) in order for it to be considered official. Each transaction may be approved or denied for any reason that seems fit, which is based solely upon the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s)s discretion.

5.2 - Signing, trading, and releasing players will be open through out the entire week, once a player is traded or signed they are eligible to play as soon as approved by the league coordinator(s).

5.2A - Rosters are permanently locked after mid-season. For example, if a season has 9 weeks of play, all rosters are locked and final on the Saturday after week 5, exactly at 11:59PM Eastern. If a season has 5 weeks of play, all rosters are locked and final on the Saturday after week 3, exactly at 11:59PM Eastern. Any transactions at 12:00AM Eastern Sunday or afterwards shall become void.

5.2B - Trade deadline will be at the end of week 4, rosters will be locked at the end of week 4.

5.3 - Once a deal has been finalized, the coordinator(s) will respond with a denied or an approved and the subject will be locked. It is up to the GM to watch the forum for responses, and the coordinator(s) will make every effort to notify the GMs.

Trading

5.4 - At no point in time is a player under any circumstances allowed to demand a trade or release from his/her specific team to another specific team. A player is allowed to demand a release or trade, just not to any specific team(s). Once a player is drafted/traded/signed to a team, his/her rights become the sole property of said team. Anyone caught trying to manipulate his way into another team is subject to be banned from the league for the season.

-- 5.4A - Each case of a player or GM asking for a release will be dealt with separately. The League coordinator(s) will follow the guidelines of making the league as fun and playable as possible for players. Valid reasons for allowing players to get released are:
---- 5.4Aa GM benching on purpose due to personal hatred.
---- 5.4Ab Inactivity ?find player "not seen more than 10 days".
---- 5.4Ac A player causing drama within the team.
---- 5.4Ad Players not showing to matches while not being squadjoined and chat joined.
Each player or GM has to have evidence backing up his/her claims. Releases of the nature of "i dont like some players" will be denied.

5.5 - All trades must be posted and agreed upon by the GM or captain of each team involved in order for it to be considered a valid transaction request.

5.6 - A team may trade any number of players in exchange for any number of players, providing the finalized transaction does not result in either team going over or under roster limits.

5.7 - For any reason what-so-ever, the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) may deny the request of a trade at any point in time. It will be up to the sole discretion of the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) to ensure all trading transactions are as even and fair as possible. Any trade deemed unfair or lop-sided may be cancelled by the coordinator(s).

5.8 - Once a transaction is finalized, it is up to the GMs to notify the respective players involved of the deal that took place. It is up to the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) to alter rosters accordingly.

5.9 - Once a player has been released from a team that player is not allowed to return to the same team for the rest of the season.

Releasing

5.10 - A team is not allowed to release a player without any specific cause. All releases must be approved by the coordinator(s), see rule 5.4.

5.11 - It is the GMs responsibility to notify any player(s) of their release by any means necessary. It is up to the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) to alter rosters accordingly and to put said player back into the FA pool when appropriate. Players dropped for inactivity will not be put back into the FA pool.

Signing

5.12 - Only players from the Free Agent Pool will be allowed to be signed to teams in the EGBDL (Draft) by their respective GMs.

5.13 - Each free agency draft will be decided upon the EGBDL (Draft) coordinator(s) as to date/time.

5.14 - Each free agent will be signed using a draft method. It will be similar to the first draft only the draft order will be reversed for the second draft. If there is need for a third draft then we will pick order again using rule 4.2.

5.15 - GMs have the option to pass in the second and third drafts.

5.16 - Captains my represent their squad in the second and third drafts if the GM cannot show up.

5.17 - It is up to the GM to notify a free agent that he has placed on their squad.

6.3 - There will be a minimum of 30 minute gap between start time of different games.

6.4 - EGBDL (Draft) Finals will be held at 2:00 PM Eastern.

=====================================================

Pre-Game Setup

7.1 - Each squad will play each other twice through out the course of a 6 week regular season. You will play each squad twice in a series best out of 5.

7.1A - Game 1 would be Tuesday at 7:00 PM Eastern.

7.2B - Game 2 would be Thursday at 7:00 PM Eastern.

7.2C - Game 3 through Game 5 would be Sunday at 2:00PM or 2:30 PM Eastern.

7.2D - Game 1 would be played in base 1.

7.2E - Game 2 would be played in base 2.

7.2F - Games 3-5 would start game 3 in base 1.

7.2G - Players/Subs who participate in Game 1, will not be eligible to play in Game 2. (If you play/sub on/in Tuesday, you won't be eligible to play Thursday.)

7.2H - Once a player has played in the first game on Sunday (Game 3), he will not be eligible for the following game (Game 4) vice-versa. All players will be allowed for game 5 on Sunday if necessary.

7.2 - Squads may start up to four (4) registered players, and have other squad members spectate in a public or a private freq of their choosing. The minimum number of players a team must have to start a match is three (3). A team starting with less then three (3) players will forfeit the game. If a squad starts less than four (4) players, the other squad is not required to match the same number. If a squad drops below two (2) players, play will continue.

7.3 - If a squad starts the game with less than four (4) players, the unused starting slot(s) may be filled by late-arriving eligible squad members.

7.4 - Squads will be assigned a “playing” private frequency before the match (100 & 200). The starting players must go to that frequency unless set by the referee or the bot. Non-squad members are not permitted on playing private frequencies. Referees are allowed to be present on each squad’s frequency for the purpose of monitoring or setting up the game.

7.5 - There will be no time limits on any of the games

7.6 - Only the active captain can speak for the squad. The referee will not receive instructions from any other squad member unless the captain gives responsibility to said player. If the captain lags out during play, the backup captain will be consulted until the primary captain returns. If both captains become unavailable, the ref will use his/her discretion in determining who will be the acting captain.

7.7 - All matches will be played with a no-blue public chat. Both GM's could agree to keep blue on.

7.8 - All matches will have a referee. All messages regarding the match must be sent to the referee. Any disputes that arise during the match must be sent either to the referee, or emailed to the EGBDL (Draft) League Coordinator(s) after the game has been completed. During the game, the decisions made by the referee are final. Any changes in referees will be announced to the arena. If for any reason, all referees are disconnected, use the ?help command to request a moderator to aid in finishing the match. If no referees and/or moderator are available then the match must be stopped and rescheduled at a later day and time.

7.9 - If requested by either team's GM or captain, a 5 minute delay may be granted to allow a squad additional time before the start of a match. Only one (1) 5 minute delay will be granted per game regardless of which squad requests the delay. The referee will have the discretion to extend any delay to ensure proper game setup. The referee delay only applies to non-squad related setup issues (i.e. zone spikes, bot issues, roster verification, etc.). At no time can the referee delay a game based on squad related issues.

7.10 - The referee will message both teams 30 minutes, 15 minutes and 5 minutes before the match with their game-time and the arena they will be playing in. The game will start at the scheduled time, giving the players and the referees 30 minutes to get set up.

7.11 - Once the ?timer has gone off and the rosters verified, the referee will warn that the game is about to start and will start the game immediately after the warning is given.

7.12 - Every team will be scheduled to play Tuesday and Thursday at 7:00 PM EST.

7.13 - Once the arena is setup, the referee will start a five (5) minute timer and will start the game immidiately after the timer goes off.

7.14 - If a player lags out a sub from that teams squad may be used to replace the lagged out player. If no sub is available, the match will continue until a winner is determined. A sub may be used at any time when needed.

7.15 - Rules 7.1 - 7.10 where applicable.
=====================================================

League Game

8.1 All teams will earn a win or a loss during each round. There will be no ties. Standings will be updated after every week with both series completed.

8.2 Spectators are not permitted to spam any players that are playing in a match or any EGBDL (Draft) Staff in an effort to disrupt game play. This may result in the offender being silenced and/or kicked from the zone.

8.3 If the server recycles, which disrupts the match, then the game must continue from the current score.

8.4 If the server recycles and results in the inability to continue play due to sever instability or unavailability of the zone, then the game will be rescheduled at a later time. All reschedule games will be restarted as a new game as if the game had never started. The EGBDL (Draft) Staff have final say in determining if a match cannot be played due to server issues.

8.5 All of the rules that apply in the main arenas of Extreme Games also apply in EGBDL (Draft) arenas.

8.6 All players in EGBDL (Draft) will use the current, approved Continuum subspace client.

8.7 The latency limits that are defined for the bot will apply to EGBDL (Draft) matches and will be enforced by a bot and/or referee. Players will not be allowed to play while in violation of the latency (lag) limits. If a player should have a quick burst of invincible lag and use it to his/her advantage, by deliberately by rushing past a considerable amount of players, absorbing bombs and/or bullets, he will be spectated for ten (10) minutes. This penalty only applies to extremely severe occurrences. Normally any player exceeding the limit will only be spectated until it subsides and a replacement player will be allowed during this time. The referee also has the authority to spec any player they deem lagging unfairly.

8.8 If a player is disconnected, forced into spectator mode or spectated by the referee for high lag 5 (5) times during a single match, and fault is found with the player and not zone, the player in no longer permitted to play for the remainder of that match. The player must be substituted out with another eligible player.

8.9 It is the responsibility of the captain to manage his/her substitutes.

8.10 Players can change ships as often as they prefer during a league match.

8.11 All active players in a match must be squad-joined to their respective squad. This squad name must be evident in the F2 squad-view list. At no time will a referee verify a player has joined his/her squad by using the ?squad command. If a player is joined to their squad but the name does not show up on the F2 list, that player must exit the zone and re-enter so that the squad name correctly appears on the F2 list in order to be eligible to play.
=====================================================

Winning Conditions and Game Rules

9.1 - A match will consist of 2 teams. 4vs4.

9.1A - If a player plays on Tuesday at 7:00 PM for the scheduled Game 1, player will not be eligible to play in Game 2 on Thursday at 7:00 PM.

9.2 - Any abusing of the bot's warp glitch will result in immediate disqualification in that base. Meaning the other team will automatically get a 5-0 win by default for that base. If unintentional warp glitch happens, you shall instantly re-attach back to your teammate. Refs have the authority to use their judgement and restart the round if the bot glitches.

9.3 - If both teams die out in a duel at the same time, that point will not be counted and the score will remain the same.

9.4 - In case of the bots leaving the arena, the referee is obligated to memorize the score and restart the game as soon as possible with the remaining points to be played out.

9.5 - In the main league a series will consist of best out of five series. Each game will be played in a different base, to win the series a team must win the base by reaching five (5) points before their opponent (5b1).

9.6 - During finals matches will be played in three (3) bases in EGBDL, A team must win three (3) games for a best out of 5 series to win the match.

9.7 - The team must clear the other team or reach the opposing teams base to win the round.

Winning Conditions and Game Rules (Weekday Matches)

9.8 - Weekday matches are part of the best out of 5 series. The first team to win three out of five games in 5b1 duels will win the series and will be awarded a W. (W/L)

9.9 - Stats will be updated by the ref hosting the match by replying to the appropriate match request thread on the "predictions" forum.

9.10 - Every game (5b1) won will be awarded with 1 point.

9.11 - If by the end of the season a team is tied with the same amount of W's (W/L), the tie breaker would result in a point review. Team to advance would be the team with the most points. If for any chance a team is tied with for (w/L) and points, both teams are still tied, a tie-breaker game would be played Thursday @ 7 PM EST. Winner would advance to finals the following Sunday.

====================================

Point System

10.1 A win will earn the squad one (1) point per base. A series won will earn the squad a win.

only 4 teams, isnt it better to force 5v5 on sunday? that way more people get to play. I dont see the use to play 2 week games to cater to more people who can play if we only do 4s on sunday when we can do 5s

Nice glowing emoticon, have not seen it yet until here. :oops: supposed resembles embarrassed, the only type to include color change on there though...

Is it yellow or white to pink and red or just a certain combo. Also have no clue what the post count affects on the forum. For level 4 for instance is a certain numbers of posts something, no clue eh.

Due to low turn out, we're officially scratching the "If you played on Tuesday, you can't play Thursday rule". Playing all players on your team is highly encouraged but is no longer required for weekday matches. Sunday game rules are that you need to cycle your players so everyone plays who shows, but a player can play all games repeatedly if necessary.

I mentioned that this part of the league was an experiment, and I appreciate your patience while we figure out what works best for players and league.

What about match times?

Even if we are changing the rule about playing restriction for matches tuesday/thursday, some squads cant get even 3 to be on at 6pm.

Maybe should consider changing match time for atleast one of the weekday matches?

That's the plan for next week. We're going to be testing 7pm. I wanted to do it Thursday but it was too last minute. Announcement will be made Sunday.

Can this be clarified a bit? Sounds very unclear. How do you determine "show". IF someone shows then afks, what happens, if someone shows, plays, refused to spec, what happens. If someone is put into game and told by GM to spec 2 second later, but he manages to get a kill, has he played etc.

Sure. So what I'm thinking for Sundays is that we highly, highly encourage GMs/Capts to play all players for at least one round. That way those who would be "benched" players get a chance to play and it's just not high-tiered people on repeat. There won't be a penalty for benching people, but if we hear that players aren't getting played we might have to enforce a stricter standard. GMs: Don't let your team be the one that makes us do this.
